Perma Pure LLC, a Halma company, is a leading manufacturer of gas conditioning products including dryers, filters, coalescers, specialty scrubbers and complete sampling systems. These products are marketed worldwide for use in medical, industrial and scientific applications. Baldwin Environmental is now part of Perma Pure LLC.

Perma Pure and Nafion: Their core technology is Nafion®, a Dupont co-polymer that is highly selective in the removal of water. Perma Pure manufactures Nafion into tubing of various diameters to optimize the transfer of water through the Nafion. The water moves through the membrane wall and evaporates into the surrounding air or gas in a process called perevaporation.
This process is driven by the humidity gradient between the inside and the outside of the tubing. In addition to drying and humidifying, their products can be used as ion exchange membranes and specialty separation membranes that take advantage of the unique properties of Nafion.

Perma Pure and Baldwin Environmental: Baldwin Environmental was a leading manufacturer and service provider of stack gas emission monitoring equipment. Their product lines include heated filter probes, electronic water condensers, sample conditioning systems, and flow control drawers. They are now part of Perma Pure LLC but you will still find their name on products.

Industrial Applications: Gas sample conditioning for process monitoring or environmental compliance monitoring. Stack gases must be conditioned to convert hot, wet and dirty gases into the cool, dry and clean samples required by analyzers. Perma Pure offers complete systems to accomplish this sample preparation as well as individual components for
incorporation into other conditioning systems.

Scientific Applications: Exploitation of the electrochemical and ion exchange properties of Nafion, as well as sample conditioning for laboratory analysis. Nafion is closely related to Teflon but has been chemically modified to make it function as an ion exchange membrane while still retaining the physical and corrosion resistance
properties of Teflon.
