Clayborn Lab Heat Tape

How it works

Clayborn Lab heat tape is engineered to deliver highly efficient and uniform thermal energy by combining both conductive and radiant heating mechanisms. Through direct surface contact, conductive heat ensures that energy is transferred precisely and consistently along the length of the object, making it ideal for applications that require controlled and stable temperatures. At the same time, the tape emits radiant heat that supplements the conductive transfer. This radiant energy is projected toward the surface being heated—especially valuable when wrapped around cylindrical components like tubes, pipes, or laboratory glassware—helping to eliminate cold spots and improve overall heat distribution.

By leveraging these dual modes of heat transfer, Clayborn Lab heat tape provides faster warm-up times, enhanced temperature uniformity, and greater efficiency compared to standard resistive heating methods. This makes it particularly effective in scientific, industrial, and process environments where precision heating is essential.

Multiple Applications

Clayborn’s extraordinary heat transfer is achieved through the use of thermally conductive adhesive. The thin, flexible, specific watt density heat tape is fabricated in 1/2”, 1/4” and 1/6” widths that can reach temperatures up to 500ºF. Tapes can be formulated into a wide range of resistances and input voltages by our engineers. Custom tape heaters with leads are available as well as bulk rolls of 50’ or 100’. Clayborn Precision Heat Tape is used to heat flat surfaces, tubing and vessels in the aerospace, medical, food processing, instrumentation, and semiconductor industries.
