Sensors

Airborne hazards are often undetectable or detected too late by our senses. This poses a serious risk as toxic or flammable gases and vapors accumulate, reaching dangerous levels, or there may be a lack of oxygen in the air. Both situations can have life-threatening consequences. The effectiveness of detecting harmful airborne substances heavily relies on the sensors employed. It is crucial for the gas detector and sensor to be perfectly matched to ensure optimal performance. Timely and reliable identification of hazards is essential, while false alarms leading to production downtime and similar disruptions must be avoided. You rely on a fully functional sensor to safeguard the well-being of your personnel, equipment, and property.

The sensor plays a pivotal role within a gas detector as it converts the measured variable, such as gas concentration, into an electrical signal. Depending on the type of sensor, this conversion is achieved through either chemical or physical processes. To obtain accurate and meaningful measurements, numerous factors must be considered. These include short response times, low susceptibility to errors, and high reliability. The better the coordination between the sensor, gas detector, and central unit, the more dependable the measurement results will be. In industrial gas detection applications, three sensor technologies, in particular, are widely employed due to their exceptional properties: electrochemical, catalytic, and infrared measurement.

EC Sensors

  • Selective measuring of the smallest concentrations of toxic gases and oxygen in ambient air, under ambient conditions
  • Ready for use immediately

Catalytic Bead Sensors

  • Different versions for different applications - e detection of combustible gases and vapors
  • Based on the catalytic bead principle

Infrared Sensors

  • Can replace catalytic ex-sensors (catalytic bead sensors, pellistors) without additional installation work
  • Immune to pellistor poisons
  • Smart and flexible
