Draeger Polytron 8900 feature – by Joel Myerson

Draeger’s Polytron 8900 is an Ultrasonic Leak Detector, it’s particularly useful for acoustic detection for leaks of small molecules of gases, both toxic and non-toxic gases. For toxic gases it’s used for a blanket level of coverage, to determine that there is a leak. Because it’s a non-specific leak detector it can’t tell what gas specifically is leaking, but it can tell very early, when a leak develops, making it easier to find the source of a leak before it becomes a much larger problem. For non-toxic gases like Nitrogen or Oxygen it’s very effective at finding leaks and preventing downtime or preventing inefficiencies and processes because of a leak. Ultrasonics have a very broad application and can be used in areas where there is ambient noise because they detect outside of the noise ranges that humans can hear. Sensor warranty is five years, the typical life of the sensor is over ten years. It’s a very low maintenance, very effective way to provide an extra blanket of coverage in addition to specific gas detection.
